This work by Debra Littrell is so much needed in our world today. Have we ever been as disconnected from Self as we are now? More suffering believed to be related to mental health is occurring today, even by those who appear to be leading rather “successful” lives, from the point of view of the outside observer. Therein lies the issue – it is not what we appear to be from the outside that fulfills us. To be content we must learn to listen to our inner wisdom.
Prior to learning Somatic & Energetic Resourcing, I had used several therapeutic tools to help clients calm the mind, body and emotions. Some such techniques included progressive muscle relaxation, and breathing, and visualization-relaxation exercises. Some clients were unable to become ready to do the work they truly needed with these tools. Once I began incorporating Somatic & Energetic Resourcing into my practice, energetic doors began to open up for my clients in new ways, and the activities helped them get in touch with what was true for them more fully.
I have since used these tools with nearly every client I work with, whether they have trauma histories or not. For assessment and treatment planning, particularly pacing, the Somatic & Energetic Resourcing tools are invaluable. Through the use of these tools clients can tell me where they’re at, and how much they are ready for, without having to open up wounds.
